Standard Service - every 12000 miles or 12 months

Lights and optional equipment - check operation

Brake fluid level warning light - check test circuit

Seat belts - check webbing for damage, check fixings for security

Tyres - check / adjust tyre pressures (including spare); check condition

Lights - check operation (excluding beam setting)

Door hinges - lubricate

Door locks and fuel filler cap - check and lubricate

Bonnet latch - check and lubricate

Windscreen wipers - check blades for damage or wear and renew as required

Wheel nuts / bolts - check tightness with wheels on ground

Fluid Levels

• Brake fluid - check / top up
• Washer reservoir - check / top up
• Coolant - check / top up (check antifreeze content)

Carburettor

• Check / adjust idle mixture
• Check / adjust idle speed
• Check / adjust throttle damper (if fitted)
• Check choke adjustment

Ignition System

• Renew spark plugs and check / adjust gap
• Clean distributor cap, HT leads and coil tower
• Visually Check HT leads, distributor cap and rotor arm for condition
• Check HT lead connectors for secure fit
• Lubricate distributor
• Check / adjust ignition timing

Engine Compartment

• Check for evidence of fluid leaks
• Check hose condition (inc. radiator, heater, fuel brake hydraulic and vacuum)
• Check battery terminal for corrosion and tightness
• Check exhaust manifold and downpipe for security and leaks
• Check condition and tension of auxiliary drive belts

Engine - change oil and renew oil filter

Gearbox - check / top up transmission fluid

Brake System

• Check brake pads and linings for wear
• Inspect brake and hub components for wear and leaks
• Lubricate handbrake cable at guides
• Check hoses and pipes for damage, leaks, chafing and rubber deterioration

Steering / Suspension

• Check linkages for wear and damage
• Check ball joint covers / gaiters for security and condition

Driveshaft Gaiters - check for security, condition and leaks

Underbody - check for damage (inc. brake / fuel pipes, steering components, gaiters)

Exhaust - check security and condition

Instruments and controls, wipers, washers, interior lights, horn and optional equipment

Hand and foot brakes

Clutch and gear change

Accelerator

Steering

Cold and hot starting

Automatic choke operation

Drive performance

Unacceptable noises

Check hot starting

Check automatic choke returns to fully off position
