New Heater Control Knobs
The knobs from Escort Mk5 and 6 heater panels will fit straight onto the spindles that the Fiesta ones come off, although they need the clips of the Fiesta ones to hold them on properly. Mk4 Escort knobs look the best but they are upside the heat and air control ones are upside down and the fan one is too long. This can be rectified though as I have done. The fan switch is the easiest, just cut 4mm off the end of the shaft and cut another slot 4mm further up the shaft for the spring clip to fit into. Now for the other two, these need to be carefully cut in half (the main part needs to be separated from the shaft). The hold in the main part then needs to be drilled out, I believe it is a 9mm hole but check first. Then the shaft can be stuck back onto each knob using Cyanoacrylate Adhesive (best super-glue around), this basically melts the plastic back together forming a near original strength bond. The strength of this bond obviously depends on how well you clean the surfaces and how flat they are so extra care and time taken all pays off in the end.
