Wayne says...

No this is not a mistake! The car is a 1989 F reg 1.4S.

We took the front off it and fitted the Mk1 front end, wanting to fit a 5 speed box into a Mk1 meant cutting the inner wing - I was not keen on this as the thought of it folding up in a collision put me off.

So finding a brand new Mk1 scuttle pannel at an autojumble set me on the road to this, a plan was hatched involving finding the newest (less rot) Mk2 shell and making it look like a mk1, sounds easy dont it?

A 57 thousand miler, near mint F reg 1400s later and we could begin, did you know a mk1 is about 5 1/2" shorter than a mk2?, no i dint either, but once started you have to carry on. Eventually it fits, now we have the room to fit the new (still in crate) 1700 puma engine and Focus ST170 6speed gearbox, ironicly, these two mated together, are narrower than a crossflow and a four speed box, so would have gone in a mk1 anyway!!

Ney mind, must carry on, to be finnished off in orange, with Series X arches and 7 1/2x13 X Pack wheels - hopefully it'll be a quick thing!
